Our small business & inspiration

‘Hello! I’m Izzy, a registered veterinary nurse. I run ‘Astro & Dill’, a small business based in England. My aim is to provide high quality forage blends to suit a wide range of small furries and their individual needs. From pregnancy to senior life stages, as well as preventative or recovery support in the form of medicinal forage.’

Inspiration stemmed from pets we knew, and the fact that many existing forage blends contain ingredients or ratios with excessive calcium, which can contribute to health conditions such as bladder stones or sludge. All of our forage blends are made with this in mind, each with their own carefully calculated recipes of ingredients at safe and nutritious levels.

For pets already with or prone to bladder, urinary or kidney issues of any severity, we even have a Urinary/Low calcium blend which was created for Astro, a rescue bunny with severe urine scald, bladder sludge and renal disease. This was likely caused by a high calcium diet fed previously, and since there are no prescription diets out there for small furries, we created our own. Along with low calcium greens and supportive veterinary treatment, feeding this forage blend daily resolved Astro’s bladder issues and his kidney disease was managed for years.

Dill was a nervous guinea pig who was rescued by Izzy and inspired our aromatic calming blend. Adding this to his diet made Dill more relaxed and handleable whilst being full of tasty goodness.

We grow and hand dry as many of our ingredients as possible, whilst sourcing the rest from high quality suppliers.
